Back Pain: potential symptom of Coronavirus

Symptoms of coronavirus include fever, runny nose, loss of taste, and rash. However, many people who have recently suffered from corona are suffering from back pain, lower abdomen, spine or headaches.

Many people with coronary heart disease had no symptoms other than headaches. Dr. Charu Dutta Arora, eminent physician of the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences spoke on the subject.

In an interview with the Indian Express, he said that although everyone thinks that Covid 19 is mainly caused by a lung infection, many people with corona have been diagnosed with back pain.

He said multiple studies in the West have shown that 83 percent of patients infected with the Delta variant had back pain.

He added that corona sufferers experienced more pain in the head, lower back and muscles during the infection. Muscle pain has been found to be more prevalent around the knee. Hormones called cytokines are secreted due to Kovid-19 infection which causes inflammation. Headache and lower abdominal pain are just some of the first symptoms of the virus which patients experience it within the first 4 to 5 days of being infected.

He said it could also be called Long Covid. This pain can last for the next 6 to 9 months. If the patient’s immunity is relatively low, such symptoms may be seen.

Dr. Arora said that in case of such pain, the doctor’s advice should be followed. Exercise should be refrained from. At the same time, we have to increase the performance step by step instead of trying to work 100 percent after recovering from Covid.
